What is Web 2.0?
What is Web 2.0? I was wondering what to write for my first Qassia posting and thought of sharing my views on Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is a hot topic these days, to me actually it seems that we are beyond the world of 2.0. I'll talk briefly about what Web 2.0 means to me and some of the emerging technologies in the horizon. When I think of Web 2.0, I think of the explosion of Social Networking Sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing, RSS; to me that's the beginning of Web 2.0, of course everyone has different concepts on when Web 2.0 began. I added a great video from YouTube on my site at www.scitechscholar.com, under 'Computers' subject page on this topic, be sure to check it out. In terms of emerging technologies, there are so many things out there, I am talking about Open Source Platforms. The power of the Web comes from sharing and moving forward with open source developments. Google, Mozilla, and many other groups are taking a lead on these emerging technologies. The next idea I am intrigued by is the future Semantics web, where meaning will be brought on to the millions of pages of text on the Web. In this concept, computers will be able to understand words rather than just showing them. It seems that the limits of technology is infinite.
